10 QUESTIONS WE WANTED TO KNOW THE ANSWERS TO...

The West Islip Involved Teen (WIIT) Council thought it would be cool if we had a section of the blog devoted to young adult authors! We also thought it would be fun if we sent out 10 questions to our favorite writers and see what the response would be! HOW EXCITING it was when the answers came in...

Meg Cabot, Jodi Picoult, Melissa de la Cruz, Tonya Hurley, Lois Lowry, Eric Luper, Sarah Beth Durst & David Levithan were amazingly gracious to send us their responses...

We will post new author answers as they come in.... scroll down to read all responses.

Meg Cabot: "I'm so honored to be part of your selected authors! I'll try to answer with dignity! "

1. Which superhero would you like to be?
MC: Oh, this is so hard because there aren't that many girl superheroes, and I would have to be a girl. Can I choose Buffy the Vampire Slayer? I'm not sure she counts, but there ARE comic books about her. Plus she's saved the earth many times!

2. How many hats do you own?
MC: I'm assuming tiaras count, so really, hundreds!

3. Do you install toilet paper so that you pull from the top or the bottom of the roll?
MC: I have to say I've never paid attention to this. Just so long as there issome, that's all I care about.

4. What is the last book you read?
MC: Wow! This is really hard because I've been on a hard core magazine reading kick. I'm kind of addicted to magazines right now (they tell you which books are the best to read, so you'll know for later)! But I did just finish Lips Touch by Laini Taylor. It was great!

5. How do you like your eggs prepared?
MC:
I love sunny side up.

6. Ice or no ice?
MC: Oh, ice always.

7. Who is the most famous person you have met?
MC: Gosh! This is hard. It depends on your opinion of famous. Probably most people would say Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, some people would say Judy Blume and Neil Gaiman, and I loved meeting favorite fellow authors like Anne Lamotte, Cecily von Zeigesar, and Al Gore's daughter, Kristen, among many others, at book signings! But it was fun meeting celebrities like Kelly Ripa and Matt Lauer and Mandy Moore and Adrian Grenier and Audrey Tautou too. I'm always afraid I'm going to leave someone out because I've met so many fun famous people, all of whom were super nice to me.

8. Facebook, Blog, MySpace or Twitter?
MC: I hate them all, but I do them all. I just quit MySpace because I hated it the most. I guess I like my blog the best, because none of my exboyfriends stalk me there!

9. Mac or PC?
MC: Mac! So far none of my Macs have crashed due to a virus. I lost a whole book on a PC due to a virus. But the folks at the Mac Store were able to save it! I love Mac. Sorry, PC.

10. What one word would describe your teenage years?
MC:
Survivor.

Aw, you're sweet! Thanks for inviting me!
Love, Meg

Eric Luper

1. Which superhero would you like to be?
EL: I'm pretty sure the correct answer here is Superman. I mean, that guy has all the awesome superpowers. The problem is that Superman is sort of a dork. I'm going to have to go with Professor X. He's less of a dork and has all kinds of cool mental powers.

2. How many hats do you own?
EL: I have a bunch of winter hats, but they are bunched up at the bottom of my closet and therefore uncountable. I also have a black Kangol and a slew of minor league baseball caps. Oh, and a straw hat I wear to the track so I can look like a fat cat.

3. Do you install toilet paper so that you pull from the top or the bottom of the roll?
EL: I like the surprise of not knowing until I install it.

4. What is the last book you read?
EL: I just finished I AM A GENIUS OF UNSPEAKABLE EVIL AND I WANT TO BE YOUR CLASS PRESIDENT by Josh Lieb and am in the middle of GOTH GIRL RISING by Barry Lyga.

5. How do you like your eggs prepared?
EL: Usually over easy on top of corned beef hash with toast. I like it best served on a souvenir gold brick.

6. Ice or no ice?
EL: I don't like ice on the ground unless it's helping to make a skating rink. I like ice in my drink unless it's milk.

7. Who is the most famous person you have met?
EL: That's hard to say. I've met lots of sports figures and musicians. I'd have to say it's got to be Christina Aguilera, Justin Timerlake and The Black Eyed Peas (including Fergie) all tied for first place.

8. Facebook, Blog, MySpace or Twitter?
EL: Facebook by far. Myspace has lost its luster and Twitter is not enough info for me to sink into. I do like blogs though. The trouble is that I rarely have enough time to keep up with them!

9. Mac or PC?
EL: PC with major-league Mac envy. I want one, I want one, I want one!

10. What one word would describe your teenage years?
EL: Wow, this is a hard one. How about: Neapolitan (referring to the ice cream, not the city, Naples)
